Some (thing + one) else

I prayed for something, I am blessed with something else.
I wished for something, I am granted with something else.
I dreamt of something, in real it happened something else.
I tried for something, I got something else.

I wonder why life does not go as it we except it to be. “Something” is just a thing or a position or an event or anything which we desire to get or happen. It’s disappointing when something turns out to be something else. I tired to replace “something” with “someone” and it is more painful in the below sentence.

I love someone, I live with someone else.
